Feed your passion for roses with a selection of books on rose gardening

There are rose books covering all aspects of rose gardening.

I love roses, in particular the older varieties and ramblers that are perfumed, vigorous and more disease tolerant than many other types. However, due to their size I don't have space for many! I wish they would make modern gardens bigger!! To help your knowledge and feed your passion for roses I have suggested a few books on roses and other resources below.

Old Roses by Graham Murphy, published by the National Trust Enterprises Ltd 2006. This lovely book covers the old varieties found in many trust properties in the UK, making the classic English garden. It cover the history of roses, their care and pruning as well as providing a list of suppliers.

The Rose Expert by Dr D.G Hessayon, published by Expert books 1996. Like many other books in the series this guide provides a simple approachable reference on roses. Full of information it is great value for money.

The Ultimate Rose book by Stirling Macoboy and Tommy Cairns is published by Harry N. Abrams Inc. 2007. Whilst expensive, this book is packed full of useful information on roses and is beautifully illustrated and is written in a great style. All in all it lives up to its title and makes the ultimate reference.
